LATICRETE Supports TAFE Training

LATICRETE Recently at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech

LATICRETE QLD Technical Sales Rep, Mitchell Haw, was invited to spend time and train tiling apprentice students at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech in Acacia Ridge, on LATICRETE products. Time was spent in the classroom discussing LATICRETE Pool Installation Systems and Warranties. The students actively participated in hands on training using LATICRETE products such as 335 Premium Flexible Adhesive and SPECTRALOCK® PRO Grout.

Wow - Check out this stunning pool project just completed by 3D Splash Pool Design in Newcastle, NSW. The team chose to use a range of LATICRETE tile and stone installation materials for the project that includes: 

• 4237 Latex Additive - a specially designed latex additive for use with 211 Crete Filler Powder to make a high strength latex thin bed and medium bed adhesive up to 15 mm. For installing all types of tile, stone and agglomerates. A residential home in Castaways Beach, QLD recently had an incredible new pool installed by Jack Boyd Pools. The curved fully tiled pool, featuring black Bisazza mosaic tiles, was installed using a range of LATICRETE materials: 

• 3701 Mortar Admix is a specially designed latex admixture for use with thin-set adhesives, cement grouts, cement mortar beds and other cement mixes.
• 211 Crete Filler Powder is a factory prepared blend of carefully selected raw materials, Portland cement and graded aggregates.

GroutPro Restores Old Staircase

Grout Restoration at Its Best!

Matthew from GroutPro Albany Creek, QLD, gave us a rundown on a recent project was completed on a staircase:  

"The main foyer entrance stairs was a tricky job to complete within a time before the sun gets too hot, I had till about 10am to clean all of the efflorescence stains that was growing on the tiles and grout lines, and remove all of the mouldy silicone. Cutting the grout out was the tricky part as there was non slip safety coating on top off all the tiles that I had never seen before, so I had to take my time to do that as the non slip safety coating chipped off in a couple places; I had returned later that afternoon to apply SPECTRALOCK® PRO Grout (sterling silver) that I had applied almost 1 ½ - 2kg of the grout to the stairs. I then returned a couple days later in the morning to re silicone the steps".

Trade Morning at Glues 'n Tools, QLD 

The early bird catches the worm - and they surely did at the Glues 'n Tools Trade Morning! LATICRETE Technical Sales Rep, Warren Miller was cooking brekkie for the masses while Nick Collett demonstrated LATICRETE products to the eager tradies.

It was certainly a thumbs up for SPECTRALOCK® PRO Grout as many of the tradies had loads of questions. They were very impressed with what Nick had to say and were overwhelmed with the product when they got to "play" with SPECTRALOCK PRO Grout themselves. Overall a huge thumbs up!

A Glass/Mosaic Hobbyist - Linden Bird

An email we received from Linden Bird a glass/mosaic hobbyist. Read what Linden says about LATICRETE adhesives and grouts:

"This was the first time that I had used Laticrete on a large piece. I used the ‘normal’ grout in midnight on the attached kingfisher 30cm by 15 cm indoor piece I made last year. I ‘discovered’ Laticrete with this piece as everyone I asked said that Laticrete produced the best colours in their grout range. And I might add they were right. I used the midnight black on the kingfisher piece and it held the black really well. A lot of black grout from other makers seem to go grey once they cure but not this one.

I used the 335 adhesive and the spectralock grout for the first time on the panel as it is an outdoor piece. I found the 335 was lovely and smooth and buttery. I could just as easily butter each piece or put it on larger areas. It also worked really well with the fibreglass mesh I put on some of the larger pieces. Though once it set that was it, there was no changing the location of the piece - it wasn’t going to go anywhere!

The SPECTRALOCK® PRO Grout was really easy to use and the instructions were easy to follow. I found the clean up with this grout a lot easier than ‘normal’ grout and it did not need to be sealed. I felt that the clean up of the grout seemed to clean and add an extra sheen to the glass as well so that was an added bonus.

I have since used the 335 on another piece I made for a friend and this time I added black cement oxide to it. I used it to adhere the little fused square of glass that I fused a frog in glass onto a 15cm square marmox board as well as making the 335 the textured border. This is also attached so you can see what I am talking about.
