Next Generation Floor Levelling

LATICRETE® SUPERCAP® system featured in
Construction Engineering Australia Magazine!

The LATICRETE® SUPERCAP® system has not only gained an enviable reputation for its versatility and speed, but it is also being hailed as a massive leap forward in OH&S for floor levelling workers and other trades working in the vicinity. With all product mixing and pumping done in the fully self-contained Mobile Blend Unit (MBU), the LATICRETE® SUPERCAP® system not only eliminates the need for manual handling and unloading of heavy product bags (usually hundreds of bags weighing 20kg each per job), it also prevents exposure to the dangerous silica dust which is an unavoidable consequence of traditional manual mixing inside the building.

"It is no exaggeration to say the LATICRETE® SUPERCAP® technology has forever changed the face of floor levelling operations. It has quite literally redefined what is considered 'world's best practice' for floor levelling operations. And we're extremely proud to be able to offer this technology to the Australian market." - David Kealy, AllPrep Flooring Specialists Pty Ltd.

LATICRETE Australia Appoints New Technical Sales Representative

LATICRETE Australia is excited to announce Daniel Minos has taken up the position as Technical Sales Representative in Victoria, alongside Chris Stenhouse.

From an early age Daniel enjoyed the concept of building things and sharing knowledge. Starting in sales in retail, Daniel then went on to study and was awarded the 2010 Apprentice of the year in Floor and Wall Tiling. Once qualified, Daniel was self-employed as a tiler and took on the challenge of teaching at TAFE as he enjoys teaching a skill or sharing knowledge. Most recently Daniel worked in Japan at an IB School,  and had the opportunity to teach building and construction skills.

In Daniels spare time he enjoys music as can be reflected in his record collection, he enjoys bushcrafts, learning and practicing some of the “lost arts” trades such as woodcarving, leatherworking, blacksmithing and using/repair vintage tools to build things by hand.

I am extremely fortunate to have had these experiences in life that has given me a global perspective, trade skills, knowledge and teaching that I look forward to bringing with me in my work at LATICRETE. It’s a nice feeling to be able to support the company that supported me in my early years as a tiler. (2010 Apprentice of The Year… I still have the trailer thank you guys!!). It’s a small world after all.”

Welcome to the LATICRETE family Daniel. We wish you all the best in your new position at LATICRETE Australia.

Tiling in Cold Weather

Can you believe winter is just around the corner!? With temperatures already starting to drop in some parts of Australia, it's time to start preparing for working in colder conditions. We've put together some helpful tips and hints for tiling and grouting in cold weather to ensure your tiling projects look great for many years to come.

Conventional Portland cement tile setting beds, thin-set adhesive mortars, groups, and cement plasters are often permanently damaged when subject to below freezing temperatures immediately after installation. The water content of a mortar turning into ice often results in Portland cement gel structure rupturing with a significant loss in strength, flexibility, and durability. Subsequent repairs to the damaged work and resulting site delays are extremely costly.

There is a simple rule to follow when the temperature is low during installation: The 10ºC Rule – for every 10ºC below 21ºC, Portland cement, and epoxy based materials take twice as long to cure.

Helpful Hints:
  1. Work during warm periods of the day.
  2. Ensure that the surface temperature is within the suggested temperature range for the LATICRETE® or LATAPOXY® product being used during the installation and cure period. Consult the individual LATICRETE or LATAPOXY product data sheet and How to Install guide for more information.
  3. Tent and heat areas that will be subjected to the elements or freezing temperatures during installation and cure periods.
  4. For multiple story buildings – areas to receive tile and stonework may be heated from below to aid in “warming up” cold concrete slabs and rooms. Simply placing temporary heating units in areas under rooms scheduled to receive tile and stone finishes in multiple story buildings will allow the natural rise of heat to warm up these areas.
  5. Vent all temporary heating equipment in accord with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and local building code regulations

    LATICRETE® SUPERCAP® System Benefits

    The LATICRETE® SUPERCAP® System

The LATICRETE® SUPERCAP® System is a time-saving, cost-effective method in finishing new concrete or capping existing slabs. This proven LEAN Construction tool provides benefits right from the start of concrete placement in division 3 and flows through division 9.
The System combines LEED contributing, GREENGUARD certified, low alkali, self-leveling cement-based technology with a computer controlled mobile blending unit (the pump truck).
    You'll see very tangible benefits:
    • Time Savings: When it comes to construction, time is money - and the LATICRETE SUPERCAP system saves a lot of both. The underlayment goes down at least 50% quicker, the cure is fast and following trades can be back working on a perfectly flat floor in 24 hours. That adds up to real time savings and you know what that means
    • Cost Effective: The volume and efficiencies that SUPERCAP® offers lead to fewer man hours and lower costs. Because of the mobile blending unit, we can complete a floor more economically. And that doesn’t even factor in the lower costs for following trades doing their jobs faster.
    • Jobsite Safety: No more loading the building, staging thousands of small bags and creating dust. A small crew manning a hose is the only thing you’ll see in the building.
    • Pumps 13.5 ton per hour, equivalent to 675 small bags an hour: That’s some serious volume never before achieved. Just think how much labour and equipment you would need to match that. Along with tying up the loading dock and building lift.
    • SUPERCAP Warranty: SUPERCAP will perform for years to come. Our products have a 10 year limited warranty and come with the option of a  15 Year SUPERCAP System Warranty – covering product, labour & materials. Contact LATICRETE SUPERCAP to discuss the System Warranty options.

This revolutionary System benefits the entire project from design to completion by providing predictable results that can shave weeks off a project schedule while delivering a perfectly flat floor for following trades to build out on.

We call it Perfectly Flat Floors. Delivered. Click here to download the LATICRETE® SUPERCAP® Allprep brochure for more information.
