Dubai Expo 2020

Take a look at the one of the most creative, ambitious projects that LATICRETE has been involved in! This water fountain is a featured piece in the currently ongoing 'Expo 2020' in Dubai, and was put together by the talented minds of WET Design.

Not only does this fountain look beautiful with its six spiralling pillars and vibrant circular tile pattern, it is part of a stunning performance of fire and water! The display is set to a piece of orchestral music written for the project by one of the world's foremost modern composers, Ramin Djawadi, who composed the iconic music from Game of Thrones, Iron Man, Pacific Rim, and many more.

The four-storey walls surrounding this fountain are giant water features which send 153 waves cascading in time with the music, while the six spires in the centre exhale hydrogen flames of neon green, red, pink, and yellow. The water is continually filtered and recycled within the system, and the hydrogen flames produce no harmful emissions, making the fountain a certified green project.

For the tiles, WET Design relied on the globally-renowned expertise of Australia-based tile company Everstone. Everstone knew that a project like this would require trusted, quality installation materials, and turned to LATICRETE to supply the grout and adhesive products for this incredible piece of art.

Corey Downes, LATICRETE Technical Sales Rep, recently shared these photos of this display for the new showroom at Amber North Lakes, QLD. SPECTRALOCK® PRO Premium Grout* was used for the installation and it looks amazing!

Mosaic Display at Urban Tiles

A Store Display That Will Impress!

Urban Tiles in Capalaba, Queensland, has a beautiful Trend mosaic display. This stunning display consists of 24 carrot white gold leaf mosaic tiles. This gorgeous mosaic mural was intalled by Murray Heazlewood using a variety of LATICRETE products. 

One of the LATICRETE products chosen for the project was LATAPOXY® 310 Stone Adhesive -  a two component, high strength epoxy adhesive. Engineered, formulated and optimised for the spot bonding fixing method of installing tile and stone on vertical surfaces. LATAPOXY 310 Stone Adhesive maintains its non-sag consistency at high working temperatures up to 35°C. Ideal for Interior, exterior, wet areas, walls, ceilings and soffits. Nick Collett and Reuben Craig (QLD Technical Sales Reps) recently visited Amber Tiles in Maroochydore - a long time supporter of LATICRETE. Nick and Reuben Grouted one of the beautiful displays at Amber Tiles with LATICRETE SpectraLOCK PRO Grout (which is stain proof!) and added the Dazzle component to make the grout really sparkle. 

Peter and the team were amazed at how easy it was and was quoted as saying “The Dazzle feature really complements the silver features in the tiles”.

Stage one; creating the shower base they used LATICRETE 3701 Fortified Mortar Bed over LATICRETE Hydro Ban (waterproof membrane). Also used was the new LATICRETE Shower Drains for premium performance.
