LATICRETE Technical Sales Rep, Shane Anderson, called into TAFE Queensland SkillsTech in Acacia Ridge, QLD and shared the above with us.

Students have been working on numerous tiling projects, one, in particular, a pizza oven installed with 335 Premium Flexible Adhesive. 

335 Premium Flexible Adhesive is a high-performance thin-bed adhesive for installing a wide range of tiles and stone including low absorption ceramic tile, porcelain tile, natural and manufactured stone using thin-set method of installation. Exceeds the requirements of AS ISO13007.1&2 classification C2TES1. Excellent for exterior and underwater applications, superior bond to masonry.

LATICRETE was recently at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech in Acacia Ridge, QLD providing theoretical and hands-on training on LATICRETE 10 Year Residential Swimming Pool Installation System using below products:

• 335 Premium Flexible Adhesive is a high performance thin-bed adhesive for installation a wide range of tile and stone for exterior and underwater applications. 
• 3701 Fortified Mortar Bed is a polymer fortified blend of carefully selected polymers, Portland cement and graded aggregates. 3701 Fortified Mortar Bed does not require the use of latex admix, you only need to add water to produce thick bed mortar with exceptional strength.
• LATAPOXY® Moisture Shield is a 2 component, roller applied epoxy coating specifically designed to reduce moisture vapour emissions in concrete and other substrates.
• HYDRO BAN® is a thin, load bearing waterproofing/crack isolation membrane that DOES NOT require the use of fabric in the field, coves or corners. HYDRO BAN is a single component, self curing liquid rubber polymer that forms a flexible, seamless waterproofing membrane. HYDRO BAN bonds directly to a wide variety of substrates.
• HYDRO BAN® Fillet & Sealant is a one component, fast curing, hybrid elastomeric adhesive and sealant. Particularly for use under HYDRO BAN Waterproof Membrane as a transition fillet and crack filler. 
• PERMACOLOR® Grout offers the maximum performance available in a cement-based grout, providing consistent colour and antimicrobial protection to resist stain-causing mould and mildew. PERMACOLOR Grout is easy to install – just mix with water.

Educating the Next Generation

LATICRETE QLD Technical Sales Rep, Mitchell Haw, recently visited the TAFE Queensland SkillsTech to provide training to 4th year apprentices about slurry bond coats and using latex admix in sand/cement screeds. Students had the opportunity to participate in hands-on demonstrations with 335 Premium Flexible Adhesive and 4237 Latex Additive. 

• 335 Premium Flexible Adhesive is a high performance thin-bed adhesive for installing a wide range of tiles and stone including low absorption ceramic tile, porcelain tile, natural and manufactured stone using thin-set method of installation. Exceeds the requirements of AS ISO13007.1&2 classification C2TES1. Excellent for exterior and underwater applications, superior bond to masonry.  
• 4237 Latex Additive is a specially designed latex additive for use with 211 Crete Filler Powder to make a high strength latex thin bed and medium bed adhesive up to 15 mm. For installing all types of tile, stone and agglomerates. Also for use with Portland cement to make slurry bond coats for mortar beds and with thin set adhesives to give improved performance and longer open time.

LATICRETE Supports TAFE Facilities

Recently QLD LATICRETE Technical Sales Reps, Mitchell Haw and Shane Anderson, had the opportunity to be judges at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech for the 2017 Regional Worldskills Competition for QLD.

6 apprentices participated, from first year to fourth year students, all vying for the win and the opportunity to represent QLD in the national competition. The task was to complete wall and floor tiling in a particular pattern and with only 7 hours to finish.

A big congratulations to Tyler Sutton who was awarded the Silver medal, and Andrew Hartley who was awarded the Gold medal and the overall winner. Well done guys!
