An Underground Park - The Lowline

OK, so what is the LowLine?
It is the transformation of an abandoned trolley terminal on the Lower East Side of Manhattan (New York City, USA!) into the world’s first underground park.  This will be a new kind of public space that uses solar technology for natural illumination.  It will use cutting edge design to capture and highlight a very special abandoned industrial space.

LATICRETE USA sponsors Joe and Jennifer Ternullo’s son Joey (see his race car above!). Middletown Ceramics is a valued contractor user of LATICRETE products.

A message from Joey's father, Joe Ternullo:

Joey has been consistent with placing in the top 10 each week (with an average of 18-25 cars). He attended a National Race back in July in Waterford and placed 6th out of 25 cars. Fantastic! He recently placed 6th again a few weeks ago (Saturday night race) out of 19 cars.

He also went up to Bethel Motor Speedway (in Bethel, NY), another National race, and ran a great race, he lead the race with only one lap to go, when his muffler fell off, which lead him to get off the track. Upsetting but everyone knew he did great!

Statistics:

• Waterford, CT: Joey is ranked (in points) – 8th out of 39th.
• Nationally, Joey is ranked 49th (in points) out of 203 drivers. Not bad for a rookie!

I think this was a fantastic first year for him - in the new car, new division. We hope next year will be even better with the experience he gained this year.

A Neutral Bay Pool

Glenn Mannix (LATICRETE NSW Technical Sales Rep) visited a home in Neutral Bay, Sydney. The pool was being rendered with LATICRETE 3701 Mortar Admix and LATICRETE 226 Thick Bed Mortar. The pool was built by Infinity Constructions and rendered by Sydney Plasterers.

Stay tuned for a photo once the project is completed, it's sure to look amazing!

Dr Patel (LATICRETE Australia R&D Chemist) and Fred Gray (LATICRETE Australia Technical Services Manager) recently attended an informative meeting - The Australian Drymix Mortar Meeting.

The Australian Drymix Mortar Meeting took place on September 11th, 2012 in Sydney, NSW, Australia. The First Australian Drymix Mortar Meeting united the key experts in the Australian and New Zealand drymix mortar industry as well as all major suppliers of raw materials. An industry showcase accompanied the event. The conference featured distinguished speakers who focused on recent developments in the drymix mortar industry. Experts in the field of drymix mortars from around the world were present, ensuring a highly diverse audience.

LATICRETE Products Used at Cobham Juvenile Centre, NSW

LATICRETE 3701 Mortar Admix was mixed onsite with sand and cement to produce a strong and durable screed. The screed was also used as grout around the 40mm pavers.
