SPARTACOTE™ Flooring for HopCat Restaurant

Commercial developer, Barfly Ventures, built a new 334.5m2 gathering space and bar area that they desired to give a decorative concrete look. Due to their track record of excellence in decorative concrete, superior reputation and workmanship, Treasure Coast Concrete Polishing got the coatings job.

The crew began by preparing the surface ready to apply the SPARTACOTE™ Stain coating system. Grey and black stain was applied to the surface. Immediately following the stain application, the crew applied the SPARTACOTE WB EPOXY™ over the stain to help lock in the colour. They allowed it to dry for four hours.

To complete the system, the Treasure Coast crew put down the top coat of SPARTACOTE FLEX SB™ to the surface. FLEX SB is designed to give maximum work time while acting as an easy to place and versatile primer coat. To ensure high traction, the coatings crew employed SPARTACOTE GRIP 100 grit traction additive to the final clear top coat. This helps maximize slip resistance within the new space.

Baylor Scott & White Operating Rooms

The Baylor, Scott & White Hospital in Texas, USA, was expanding with three additional operating room construction projects and were looking for a flooring solution. The coatings they had installed in previous areas were not satisfactory so they needed a solution that would meet their requirements. Kemna Tile, a SPARTACOTE™ installer, discussed with the architect about installing a SPARTACOTE system that would colour match the custom chip the designers had selected. 

SPARTACOTE is known for its colour versatility and custom design specifications. Kemna worked alongside a SPARTACOTE flooring expert to match up the specified colour, and SPARTACOTE CHIP was the chosen flooring system. Another key feature of SPARTACOTE is the ability to go vertical and flexibility in difficult areas, such as cove base where transitions occur. In environments like hospitals and operating rooms this is a key feature as contaminants must be controlled.

Baylor, Scott & White now have new, fully-operational operating rooms with a flooring system that offers excellent abrasion, slip and chemical resistance, and mitigates microbial growth. Nine West Gets New Flooring

LATICRETE SPARTACOTE® was recently selected as the preferred flooring solution for a Nine West shoe store located in New York City's Rockefeller Centre - one of the most heavily trafficked retail centres in North America.

The owners of Nine West, a global retail chain that sells a selection of shoes and accessories, were having issues with the existing flooring system which was experiencing severe fading, cracking and excessive wear. With the retail store being so active, the project had multiple challenges which included:

• 24 hour start to finish project time frame required a fast-drying floor coating

Toyota® uses LATICRETE SPARTACOTE®

Floor Upgrade to Toyota Distribution Centre

After years of use, areas of the existing concrete floor coating at the Toyota® Parts Distribution Centre in Vancouver, B.C, had worn through and was in need of restoration. Toyota had a long-time concrete floor repair partner, Roselli Construction, to evaluate the floor and make a recommendation. There was a big challenge in this project, as they would only have the weekend to do the concrete floor work.

At that time Roselli discovered LATICRETE SPARTACOTE® concrete coating systems. They installed a mock-up area around a loading bay and coated industrial traffic lines, and Toyota ran industrial traffic over it (Forklifts, pallet jacks etc) to test the floor for months. After Toyota was satisfied with the coatings test area, they gave the Roselli team the go-ahead to do the entire industrial floor.

Roselli has completed around 2,323m2 so far, with another 5,574m2 to coat, and the crew does around 465m2 each weekend – including both the prep of the substrate and coatings. SPARTACOTE FLEX SB™ clear coating system was used over bare concrete, prepared to a CSP 2, and a special tint base was made (“Toyota green”) for the facility’s walkways and the safety lines.

Toyota had expressed they were happy with the progress on the floor and love the durability on the SPARTACOTE coating, as well as the fast turnaround time for their busy industrial environments. Read the full Project Spotlight here.
