Mosaic Artist Bonnie Fitzgerald received the Juror's Choice Award in Mosaic Arts International for a large public mosaic art piece. Installed at the Palmer Park Community Centre in Landover, Maryville, the artwork consists of stained glass mosaics on 7 panels.
The project was created using a wide range of LATICRETE installation materials. Bonnie shared her process with us:
"The entire project was made with LATICRETE: Glass Tile Adhesive, PERMACOLOR® Grout (white, colored with concrete colorants), Epoxy Grout (we did the large silhouette areas with Epoxy Grout as an extra safety measure. The glass pieces were large, the installation location very challenging - the space, although dry, gets VERY HOT or VERY COLD depending on the outside environment, I wanted the extra protection the Epoxy product provides."
