Can you believe this unique structure is a water feature? 

This project was commission by the Gladstone Council for the foreshore upgrade.

AS Signs built the structure out of steel. Mark McKenna did the mosaicing and had said this was a delicate project. The Pool Tile Co supplied the mosaics.

The Morepork Owl

Vicky Fletcher's "Morepork" Owl

Wouldn't you agree, His Eyes Seem So Real?!

Vicky Fletcher is a stained glass artist,  who lives 3 kms from the Southern Alps in the South Island of New Zealand.

Vicky used PERMACOLOR Grout and Glass Tile Adhesive (GTA) on the above mural and was very impressed with both. Vicky was especially impressed with the GTA "as a good adhesive was required to create an evenly white surface between the glass and substrate so to not detract from the clarity of the glass." Vicky said "GTA did this perfectly and I was really pleased with the final result."

Vickys' statement: "Size 15 x 23 cm - 6 x 9" Stained, painted and fused glass. This wee native owl is much loved in NZ, his call is the essence of the NZ bush at night. I was inspired to make a mosaic of this lovely raptor by a photograph from Rob Suisted who kindly gave me permission to use it - his website is well worth a look :- http://www.naturespic.com/ 

The eyes and the native Red Beech stump are painted and fused as is the foliage of the ferns and Five Finger tree. The Southern Cross sits above the Morepork's left shoulder, that and the flora place my Owl firmly in Westland, NZ. The frame is made from 120 yr old native Rimu which is a Southern Conifer/Podocarp. I've long loved Moreporks, sometimes I go outside last thing at night to listen for them - on one memorable night last summer I counted 7 calling back and forth across the face of the mountains, such a magical evening.

I bought my Laticrete products from Kent Sanderson of Global Tile in Auckland, Kent was wonderful in giving advice and his input was much appreciated by me.  

Several American mosaic artists and a good friend in Coffs Harbour, Australia sang the praises of Laticrete to me plus I watched several YouTube clips on same ... also many members in the Contemporary Mosaic Artists website highly recommend your products so word is spreading, not just in the building sector, artists have cottoned onto what great products you have."

What an Achievement!

Congratulations to LATICRETE Australia team member, Mitchell Frei, who was selected to play for the QLD Residents 2014 team, and took on the VB NSW Cup Representative Side earlier this month.

Representing Wynnum Manly Seagulls, Mitchell was one of the 17 players selected from 13 teams across the Intrust Super Cup to represent QLD in the annual clash versus NSW. Click here to read more about the selection.

Fittingly, Queensland wrested back Residents interstate Rugby League bragging rights, holding off a second half comeback by NSW to prevail 24-16 in a worthy curtain raiser at State of Origin III held at Suncorp Stadium.

A Tribute Done In Mosaics

Dr Henry M. Rothberg

Mosaic artist, Mark Kennedy, is a very well known mosaic artist from Manchester, in the UK. Mark did the above mosaic mural on the late Dr Henry M. Rothberg (LATICRETE Founder), This beautiful mosaic mural is proudly displayed at the LATICRETE Int. Bethany office.

Mark used 254 Platinum in the colour Grey and PERMACOLOR® Grout, in the colour Silver Sterling.

What a project! 

Joe Tabone, LATICRETE NSW Technical Sales Rep was at the job site offering technical support and advice while LATICRETE products were used to tile the balcony at The Sebel Hotel in Manly. The project was carried out by Adam's Tiling Services, TrueLine Tiling and grouting by T.M Constructions and it looks absolutely amazing.  

Stacked stone tiles were used for the walls and vitrified tiles, for the floor.

"We were doing a training seminar today in the conference room at the union hall in downtown Boston.

As I walked out to the 'work/training area' I came upon this stall. Totally unprovoked and they didn't even bring me to that area to show me. (Zoom in and see what it says)

To be clear, and some facts -  this is the local 3 union apprentice training school in Boston MA

This year, 15 men and women were trained for five weeks with little or no pay to ultimately join the tile and brick layers union.

Laticrete has partnered with the union to provide all the installation materials & tools necessary for this training. We have consistently done this for over 10 years!"

Use LATICRETE® when Installing Trend Terrazzo Tiles

Trend Terrazzo Tile is a series of terrazzo-like engineered stone tiles and slabs that include numerous colours with recycled glass content. The material is composed of approximately 93% “grit”, or chips, and 7% pigmented polyester resin. The grit, which is comprised of either quartz, porcelain, granite, glass, or mosaic, is crushed into nine different granule sizes.

These granules are mixed with the pigmented polyester resin and spread onto a large sheet mold where the slab takes its shape, is reinforced with a polyester mesh and finally the limestone backing is added. A slab is then calibrated and ready for the finishing that can be Polish, Matte or Honed. Available in slabs or cut to size tiles...

The LATICRETE products in this brochure are recommended for installing Trend Terrazzo Tiles. An overview of each recommended product is provided as a general guide to facilitate the selection of the appropriate LATICRETE product for the specific application.
