LATAPOXY might have been revolutionary, but apparently people don't even realise what it does, even now. Below are images of a major Adhesive FAIL.

This job was spot fixed in a competitor's cement based adhesive which has failed within 18 months!

This home is in Mermaid Waters beach side of the road, a multi-million dollar property. If it had been laid with LATAPOXY this would not have happened.

Shouldn't it  be done right the first time rather than requiring a return to FIX a problem?

Tile size was 600 mm x 300 mm going up the entire exterior facade of this chimney.

America's John Striednig Visits Australia

LATICRETE International headquarters' own, John Striednig, visits Australia. First visiting Sydney, then eventually making his way to Victoria and Brisbane, John is can be seen enjoying fresh seafood with Fred Gray at the Sydney Fish Market this past weekend.

John Striednig (Director of SPD) and Fred Gray (Technical Service Manager) enjoy fresh fish at the Sydney Fish Market.

John served for a number of years as the LATICRETE Regional Manager for the Texas region with our Architectural Products Division (APD) which is responsible for the regular LATICRETE products, however, John is now the key person responsible for our Speciality Products Division (SPD) which includes the MVIS product line.

John is currently the Director of our SPD and is visiting Australia to exchange ideas and share his LATICRETE experience. He is a seasoned and experienced manager with an extensive background and knowledge of tile and stone installation materials, ethics and technologies.

Located in Queensland, the new Enoggra Army Barrack pool is utilising LATICRETE products for their installation!

They are now using LATICRETE 211 Crete Filler Powder with LATICRETE 4237 Latex Additive for the wall and floor. For the grout, they are using LATICRETE SpectraLOCK PRO Grout to a depth of 1.2 metres and LATICRETE PermaColor below 1.2 metres. LATICRETE 3701 Mortar Admix was used for the render.

The pool is 3.6 metres at its deep end. Aside from being used for recreation and fitness, the pool will also be used for search and rescue training.

Bethany, CT Training Seminar

With the expansion of the Bethany, CT LATICRETE Headquarters came a state-of-the-art training room and demo room. One of LATICRETE Australia's own, Shea, is currently attending a PTK at Headquarters. Shea has been meeting a variety of LATICRETE employees and learning from the experienced LATICRETE personnel.

Tile & Stone on Yachts

Big Fish, a super yacht, incorporates granite decking. Stone Decking Systems introduced the world's first epoxy impregnated granite decking. The yacht, at 45m, was custom built in 2010 by McMullen & Wing. It is extremely green with its low fuel burn and low energy consumption. It was built with LED lighting and solar panels. It is all-over, incredible. And did we mention its stone deck areas!

Stone installed in exterior deck areas on yacht. Normal stone adhesive wouldn't hold up in this type of application so LATICRETE was selected.

Shea will be spending 1 week at the LATICRETE Headquarters meeting and working with the US marketing team, as well as some going through some LATICRETE training.

The LATICRETE Australian Profit Through Knowledge (PTK) Technical Seminar is a two day intensive training program specifically developed for tile and stone industry professionals who want to become familiar with industry standards, installation techniques, technologies & methods and LATICRETE products.

Incredible Mosaic Chandelier

Since yesterday's blog post was about a mosaic, I felt like sticking to a theme for today.

Paul Pearman is an incredible mosaic artist based in the United States. He frequently uses the tiniest of mosaic tiles for his projects that can range in size from extremely small to extremely monumental. An incredible masterpiece recently created by Pearman is a sculpted chandelier, displayed in the lobby at Georgia Health Sciences University's new College of Dental Medicine.

Taking nine months to build and an incredible team, this masterpiece was documented by two film documentaries chronicling the entire process.

The final masterpiece suspended in the lobby. The sculpture is almost 9 meters tall from top to bottom with its lowest point less than 3 meters from the floor.

At the lowest level of the multi-tiered sculpture is a teardrop pendant containing a clock.

Pearman's inspiration for this work? The famous Salvador Dali painting, Geopoliticus Child Watching the Birth of a New Man. This project used LATICRETE materials. According to Pearman, he was adamant in his decision to only use installation materials produced by LATICRETE. Pearman mentioned that he used LATICRETE SpectraLOCK PRO Grout as both the adhesive and the grout, which is very uncommon, unless the project is unique and requires this specific method.
